Hi all,
I'm from Belgium, I have a question and am looking for some answers ;)
I have a bachelor degree in Business Administration but have been working the last six years as a systems engineer. The question is simple (and hopefully the answer will be too): Can I claim points for my degree?

You can claim points just for a degree if it is on the approved list -
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/general/formsandfees/formsandguides/lorq
If not on the list (by country) then it will need NZQA assessment.
Hope this helps.

Read more posts and search the forum..
You will have problem with extra points as your degree and experience are in different areas.

You "may" be able o argue that the degree is relevant to your work experience. You need to think about writing a one page summary/justification of why they are related to each other.
EG - my degree was in Hotel & Catering Management. My work experience was in running my own retail stores and product administration in a global company. The degree was delivered by Portsmouth Uni "Business School" - so I wrote to my case officer explaining that it was really a "Business" degree but with a focus on Hotel & Catering - the disciplines applied to all business and I had used them in my own business. I then asked the course director to send a one page letter backing that up. As soon as the CO had received those, the application was approved :nice1
So give it a try and talk with NZIS
