Hi everyone,

We are the Wattis family and have dream to emigrate to New Zealand. We are a family of 6 and have been considering this for nearly 10 years. It now seems to be the right time to go for it and are currently planning a short stay out there sometime this year. We have friends out there but other than that we know very little else and feel a bit like we are running blind. If anyone has any tales to tell or words of wisdom to encourage us on our big adventure then please reply.

Hello Wattis family. If you are mad then so are thousands of others including us. Wow, 10 years of thinking. We are approx 3 yrs of thinking and we started the process 12 months ago. We are all set except for all important house sale.

Well I say GO FOR IT! Under which visa category will you apply? What do you do?

We are looking at permanent residence. (not sure which visa that is, still very new to this despite the 10 years!)
I am a graphic designer working in video and TV production (currently freelancing). My wife was a nurse before becoming a complementary therapist before becoming a full time Mum for our 4 children. We had a points check and we came out with 150 which I think is pretty good. There is a shortage of Graphic Designers over there.

Hi - there are many words of wisdom on this site, and many, many people going through the same process and same rollercoaster of emotions.
I have found this more informative than the immigration site and it certainly helps you feel prepared about each step in the process.

We are just as mad. Never visited the country but just know it is right. It hasn't quite taken us 10 years but the last 12 months of soul searching was bad enough. Good luck & welcome :)
