Hi

We are in the process of gathering all the paperwork for our ITA. I would just like to check that I am interpreting the guidance correctly. My husband has sent off all his qualifications for full assessment by the NZQA as he is the principal applicant.

I am teacher and so have claimed points for my skills but have not got my skills assessed as my degree (BA) Hons is on the list of recognised qualifications. I realise that if in the future I wish to teach in NZ I will obviously need to get my skills assessed and register with the teaching council. However, I just want to check that I am right in saying that my skills do not need to be assessed for ITA purposes?

Right?

As far as I have understood it, yes, you are right as long as your qualification is on the recognised list. We're in the same situation, and will submit with principle applicants assessment done, and partner having qualification from recognised institution. Another thread in the last few days suggested that if you are applying without a job offer then NZIS requires all quals to be assessed (principle applicant) even if they are from recognised institutions, but this is contrary to the policy manual so I am not convinced this post was correct.

Funny - we were just wondering the same thing!!!! We got our ITA in the post today and also came to the same conclusion that so long as you have the certificate and the qualification is on the recognised list (which mine is)as the partner qualification this is ok. (Also they only sent one yellow NZQA form which we know we have to use to get the full assessment for Rich's motor trade qualications which was not on the list.)

Good Luck!
