Hi all,

Does anyone know the process of obtaining a work permit from the UK without having a job offer? Is a work permit different to the working holiday scheme?

Yes, work permits and working holidays are different. You can only get a work permit if you have already have a job offer.

Ive assumed yes but can't find the info anywhere else.

More than 12 months yes, less than that no.

Where does the work permit application process begin? Can't seem to find anything on the NZIS website, would expect an online form or something...

Yes it is online but when I went to look so that I could tell you exactly I couldn't find it! It wont let you complete it unless you have a job offer and then it offers you the chance to get a phone call to discuss the application. Got as far as www.immigration.govt.nz then clicked on 'More about applying for a work permit or visa'. Think that I went through Skilled Migrant category but cant be sure...sorry. If someone finds it let me know because I'm hoping that I'll need it.

I have found out though that if you are applying with a job offer outside NZ you need a visa if you are applying from within NZ then its permit.

If you want to leave at NZ at any point though (to go oon holiday or whatever), then you need the visa too in order to get back into NZ.
