Hi,

We have everything we need to submit our ITA back to NZIS: Medicals, Job offer, qualification details, work experience references - the lot! Except my UK Police check!! My wife has both her UK and Irish checks returned, but mine seems to have been lost and is nearly a fortnight over their 40 day response time (I originally thought it was 40 working days, but it seems not).

The Met provide numbers to call them in case the check is not returned in time, but none of these numbers actually work! I have emailed too, but with no response.

Has anyone successfully contacted the Met to chase up missing information? Does anyone have a number I can use?

This is so frustrating now!! I'm due to start work in Wellington on 3rd March and would prefer to get PR rather than a working visa.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mick, Jean and Daisy

Hi
I have spoken with them twice on this number.
0207 161 3500
There are a few voicemail options if you do not get answered, but listen to them all and leave a voice message with your number.
I left one about a problem and was called back 1 hour later.
If they are that late then they will be very helpful.
Good luck.

Hi Rusty,

Thanks for the reply. That's the number I was given in the receipt letter. When called you get an automated message stating that, "No messages can be stored in that mailbox at the moment". This message never seems to change. I guess the mailbox is full. :no

There doesn't seem to be any other way of contacting them.

The number you listed appears to be Metropolitan Police Force specific, their website also lists 020 7230 1212 - as 24hr switchboard.

It may be worth trying this number and getting transferred to the person you need?

The reply I got from the National Identification Service in New Scotland Yard (which processes applications via the Met Police) has the following number on it you could try: 020 7230 2958. A fax number is also given: 020 7230 2688 (These are the numbers for the Subject Access Office).

This phone number is also listed for NIS: 020 7230 0715

I haven't used any of the numbers myself so can't vouch for their usefulness...

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. I managed to get through first thing this morning on the original number provided with the receipt letter (I hadn't seen the alternatives everyone had provided).

Oddly they were still processing my application (cue scenarios of identity theft and someone using my name to rob banks up and down the UK...). I pointed out that they were well over due according to the 40 day limit and that they had processed my wife's application on time and that arrived the same day in the same envelope using the same cheque to pay for it.

I have been promised it will be sent today.

Hopefully it will come this week and I can add it to the huge pile of paper NZIS are to receive!

Thanks again

Mick
