Hello All
When the packers come do they 'fill' the space in your own things with your own things? eg if you are taking a cupboard do the packers put some of your own stuff in (so that it takes up less room overall in the container)?

The other thing I was wondering is how your clothes are packed. Would I pack them into suitcases to go into the container or are they 'packed' differently?

Short answer, yes they do.

Certainly they will use things such as cushions as padding for other things when possible, obviously when it won't damage either item.

For clothes, some will use 'wardrobe' boxes which allow them to hang your clothes as normal, other clothes will just go into boxes.

I wouldn't bother going to the trouble of packing items into suitcases as they will likely repack them anyway.

Every space is used, believe me!!
As for clothes, as Ian said, they use long boxes so your clothes can be laid flat or fancy wardrobe boxes, but we didn't have any of those.

The only exception will be items that would be too heavy to safely lift in packed with other items. Our dresser was left empty as it is large and cumbersome. They packed light clothes in our chest of drawers and added paper stuff to avoid any damp problems. However all the heavier stuff like jumpers and coats were removed and packed in boxes.
