Help! Working mum desperately seeks ideas on what my 12 year old can do for the next few weeks. We have not been here long enough to make friends and there seem to be few activities for a very active and sports-mad child!

Ideas welcomed, even if it's just the opportunity to meet other 'tweenagers' in Wellington.

At the risk of looking like I am talking to myself....

I got no ideas from the forum but I have been told that the YMCA runs a school holiday programme. The brochure itself does not look that exciting but it comes recommended from a colleague at work -

* activites are run in three age groups: 5-7, 8-11, 12-15;
* at the Wellington Chinese Sports and Cultural Centre, Mount Albert Road, Berhampore;
* from 8am till 6pm;
* cost is $42/ day or $190/ week;
