A bit of a delicate subject this, at least for me.

Having been dithering for some time over whether to have the unkindest cut of all (aka "the snip") the question now arises (this could get a bit like a Carry On film) whether I should get it done before we leave the UK.
So the question is how easy is it to get "done" in NZ and how much does it cost. It is free on the NHS in the UK and apparently fairly easy.......

Adam,
I can only give you the UK perspective.
You can have it done inthe UK under Local Anaesthetic in 20 mins and no Hospital stay ( In Wigan there is a clinic that does them on Sunday mornings!!).
It isn't that painful afterwards -so my ggod friends have told me.
And of course its free!

Recovery time is minimal which I guess goes for either side of the world!

Hope someone can come up with the NZ side for you

Love Linda xxx

:uhoh Is Woz looking.. no, good.. I'll tell...

He was going to have the snip before leaving the UK but Doc said have it done in NZ as it was only a month until our flights and he said if there were any complications it would either be a cancellation of flights or a very sore journey!! Plus, if there are any complications etc it would be best that you were having it seen to by the people that did the procedure in the first place..

$300 here at our local GP's office, under local anaesthetic. As for the after affects etc, I'll let you know when I finally convince Eric to get it done!!

Don't listen to them, when they have swollen up and gone a funny blue / black colour, and you can't walk for the pain (every step it rubs) it will be difficult to remember what its all for.
I went to my GP a couple of days after going under the knife, I dropped my trousers, he looked and said, oooh that looks painful, better not touch those.... I bet they hurt..... YES I said.
Better leave it for a few days to see of the swelling goes down, oh and buy yourself a truss in the meantime..

Its still brinigng tears to my eyes.

Noel ..... love your post - sounds painful.

Like Moorf not wanting Woz to read her bit - I hope PB doesn't read this.

His experience was nowhere near as bad as yours. He had it under local, was given some pain killers when he left but never took them. The next day he was out riding his Harley.

Jeeze they make these Kiwi oil men tough you know.

P.S...... I stood in the surgery and watched every single bit of the op :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh

A friend of ours had the snip and two years later his wife had another baby... He couldn't deny whose she is though as she is so much like her dad, looks, build and personaliity. Although it did cause some ructions when she first found out she was pregnant. As the doctors said sometimes it does happen so he had to have the snip again.

I bought Steve some Arnica tablets when he had his snip. Really does take away the bruising. He said it didn't hurt at all. Its all done under a local and they even ask if you want a mirror to watch :laugh

The only one in tears was my daughter who was about 5 at the time. She threw a tantrum in outpatients as she wanted to watch the op!
