Has anybody ever been able to buy tickets in the UK for a return flight with Air NZ (I need the 46kg baggage) from Auckland to Manchester (and back again). Looks like I'm back again at Easter (seventh crossing in just over a year) and I don't know if anyone else has noticed but man>auck>man is about $1000 less than auck>man>auck. The UK site won't allow me to book t'other way round. I could buy auck>man from down here and man>auck from the UK site but they weight the prices so it isn't worth it.
Compounding this is I have to use my UK visa card which is lousy at exchange, my ASB Mastercard has a low limit and I don't have funds down here to clear it anyway due to the exchange rate.
Anyone cracked the problem? For two of us it means about $2300 up the shute.

Have you tried going through a travel site like expedia?

... are you tied with Air NZ because of air miles?
We've just booked with Singapore Air leaving end of March for 3 weeks... outbound Manchester to Auckland, inbound Christchurch to Manchester, 2 adults & 1 child total price £2,590 (£863 each)... no messing with transfers at London Heathrow either :)
Cheers

Not air miles but the 46kg luggage allowance. Going the way you are isn't a problem, I think it's a little less than you paid. It's booking auckland>man>auck that's expensive.
Thanks, Alan.

If you have a skype phone or cheap calls to UK. I once booked from Italy to UK with a UK travel agent.
Best wishes, mrs Marshanite (must stop squatting hubby's username & set up my own!)
