Hi all,
Sent a DVD back to UK for my Mum's 90th of our life out here so far and birthday wishes.
Hadnt really thought about it at the time but know there are 2 different zones for DVDs, had to lend my boss our UK dvd player so he could watch one his sister had sent him from UK.
So is it the same for recordable DVDs as the one we sent they cany play back in the UK, the disc was bought out here, will they be able to re-write it back in UK or will we have to get some sent out to us ?
Cheers
Ben

There are more than two regions for DVD's, but I know what you mean :)
Normally, if you record a DVD then you don't put a region code on it, so it should play on any DVD player.
Also, all recordable DVDs are the same so doesn't matter if you get them from the UK or NZ.
So either, you have put on a region code (check with recorder / software for this option), or, more likely it is because the DVD media itself isn't compatible with the DVD player.
Would get them to try other DVD players to see if they can find one that will play it, or record it again on a different brand of DVD and send them that one to try. Would of course recommend that you try the new DVD on a few DVD players in NZ first to check (ideally one set to region 2 UK)
One other point, what type of disk e.g. +R or -R etc are you using as some players can only play the one type? Worth checking what disk types their player can handle first.

Cheers Ian :nice1
I'll check with family back in UK as to how they get on now they are all back at home and have access to their players, Mum's party was in holiday let, then we should be able to sort it out.
It took a few stressful hours putting it together with the editing software we had, time pressure to post as well, so it was recorded in Div x and played fine on our NZ players, never thought to try UK one doh
We live and learn , thanks for your great advice :clap :clap

You will find very few players (especially older ones) that can handle the Div x format, so that may well be your problem.

My brother has now played afore mentioned DVD on his computer and transfered it onto a video for my mum :clap
We've a Sony handycam, can anyone recommend some editing software that might alleviate this problem in the future, i.e. it doesnt end up in Div x format
Cheers
