Hi
I couldn't see this question anywhere. I will be sending my Residence: Skilled Migrant application to London shortly. No job offer, 135 points and my profession is IT. If all goes well I understand I get a Work Permit with a date by which I am supposed to arrive in New Zealand. Can anyone tell me how far in the future this latest arrival date will be?

I am assuming that you mean you are applying for a PR, in which case you will have 12 months from the time that it is granted before you have to arrive in the country.
This has been discussed on the forum before, if you need longer than this then there are some things that you can do to slow down the process e.g. not submitting your ITA until the 4 month deadline etc.

Thanks Ian, yes I am applying for PR, but with 135 points and no job offer I thought I was initially just granted a Work Visa, although the person who was explaining this to me had been through immigration process 7 years ago.
Is the information about the Work Visa out of date? , and is it 12 months from the date your Residency application is accepted regardless of points, job offers etc?

Not exactly, when your PR application is assessed your case officer will need to determine if you are likely to settle in NZ. For example, because you don't have a job offer they are likely to want to interview you (probably by phone) to determine how much you know about NZ and the risks etc.
If they don't think that you will settle then yes you may not be granted a PR but a work visa instead, which if you do settle will be changed to a PR later.
The 12 months starts from when they stick the visa into your passport (nothing to do with anything else).
If you are actively wanting to get to NZ, then would suggest you keep applying for jobs whilst letting the employer know how far you are through the process (shows commitment), if you do get offered a job you can then let NZIS know and they should then fast track your application.

Thanks for this useful information.
Can anyone give a rough estimate of how soon you hear back from immigration in London once you've sent your Residency application?
I realise this is down to points and job offers as well, but if my situation doesn't change (135 points, no job offer) is it likely to be weeks or months?

Basically expect up to 3 months to be selected and then upto 4 months once you have submitted your ITA (which you have upto 4 months to submit)
See London Skilled Migrant Processing Times (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/londonbranchhome/tipsandprocessingtimes/skilledmigrantprocessingtimes.htm) for details.
