Aaaarrrghhhh
From the NZIS website today:
New Zealand Residence Programme — Skilled Migrant Category fortnightly selection delayed
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Today’s selection has been delayed due to technical difficulties.
At this stage we are hoping to undertake the selection later today, otherwise the selection will be postponed until tomorrow, Thursday, 17th January at 1.00pm.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
I'm running out of Pinot Gris!!! :wah

I would think it'll be midnight tonight now as its 8.40pm there now and they've probably all gone home! I might be wrong but I'm guessing they'll try for 1pm NZ time now.

Unless they changed the policy, you should all be OK with 140 points and more. With jobs it will make your ITA arrive even quicker.
Come on Moorf, you would normally be telling us this:D - or are you nervous this time? Makes you doubt and double check (I know I did even when it said selected I checked a lot of times to see it was not a mistake), do you remember when you were at this stage a long time ago, or is this worse?

The draw we got selected from at the end of November also got delayed by 24 hours, which was fortuitous in our case, as we only got our EOI in the day before thanks to me messing up my dates.
Hopefully the wait will be worth it, even if the feeling has gone from your finger by repeatedly hitting F5 :D
Good luck everyone.

:D I'm afraid it's so long ago I can't quite remember the day our EOI was selected. I do remember I was very nervous about being picked, aren't we all, no matter how many points? I remember reading and re-reading the blurb on claiming points, even after hitting submit, and then worrying myself silly that I'd misunderstood the questions they'd asked and that they would be sending me back a polite note telling me that in reality I only had 50 points and would I mind going elsewhere...
Of course, at the time I thought that was the worst of it over with ... ohh how wrong I was!
Plus, I know how much my brother wants to be here.... ;)

I know what you mean, I kept logging out and then back in to the NZIS site to make sure I was right when we were selected. I still read the ITA pack 3 times a week to make sure I understand it all and have it all correct before we send it in (I need to as I forgot to put my driving licence in with the police check :uhoh , which has delayed that).
I hope by the time you read this that he has been selected - no matter how many times we can read the manual thingy about 140 points, until it happens, the mind won't let anyone believe it. (sounds a bit like 'The Matrix')

Chirpybean this morning.
It is mostly gathering proof of everything you have claimed for. EG job offers, quals, where you have lived, proof of relationship/kids, etc.
It is fairly straightforward, there just seems to be a lot of it everywhere. There are stories of ITA's being handed back to NZIS that are about 2-3 inches thick - mine will be.
There is a lot of good info here about ITA's and covering letters.
Enjoy smiling all day.
PS - do your police checks now as they take about 40 days and last 6 months.

Put in police checks yesterday,
should we wait till we get ITA (hopefully) untill I organise medicals as they only last 3 mths?
Funny thing is, last week I was really stressed and almost hoping the whole
' NZ thing ' would go away. :exit
Now we are on the 'rollercoaster' I feel calmer and starting to get things organised ready and desperately hoping it all goes through quickly.
Well done to every one else who got through

Thanks Rusty, very helpful. Our police checks should be back by the end of Jan and our medicals are lined up. What kind of thing do they want for proof of where you've lived and your relationship and how far back do they go?

It's a good idea to check what the waiting list is like for your panel doctor of choice. When we needed our medicals we had to wait because they were all fully booked.
You can of course book an appointment for some time in the future.

Thanks Ian,
Didn’t think of that, guess I thought that being private and quite expensive that you wouldn’t have to wait too long to get an appointment.
How long did you have to wait to get an appointment?

We tried getting an appointment just after Christmas and the earliest we could get was in February and this was phoning around all the panel doctors that were within a reasonable driving distance.
Sure that we were probably just unlucky but it may be a time of the year issue, could seriously cause a problem if you are relying on a tight timeframe.
Simplest just to phone them and see, or better still see if you can book an appointment for when you want it e.g. in a months time and then just change the date if needed.

Rather than me post things that may not be correct, there is a lot of info on the NZIS London website - look for 'the SMC toolkit' on the left of the page. Alternatively, there are quite a few threads about it and see if you can find the 'applications for residence guide' on the NZIS site.
When you get your ITA, it tells you everything that you need. But, obvious things like mortgage statements, etc that prove you have been in a relationship for over 12 months and where you live. Then anything to prove what you have claimed points for (job contract, payslips, quals, etc).
It seems a lot, but if you read all the info carefully 1st then you will have most or all of it anyway.

Just flicking through the selection history, it appears this selection of just over 850 EOI's was the highest for about 2 years. That may lead to longer processing times.

This sounds SOOOOOOOOO exciting for all. We submitted our EOI on 27 Nov, with 135 points, both of us have a degree, HND and HNC each, but not in the skills shortage areas....
We'd like to settle in Christchurch and hope to get environmental work (Mr Granite's degree) and book-keeping/office manager/EA/PA work for me........ (my degree is psychology but I've never had a psych related job since I graduated in 2000)
It's the waiting, and expectation that's a killer. :(
I take it when you are selected, that the status just changes from 'submitted' to 'accepted' and you get an email or message/letter of some sort............

It changes to 'selected'.
This draw only took those with 140 pts+ and those with a job offer.

So close and yet so far! I've uploaded my cv to the Christchurch council website who are one of the employers that are allowed to make offers to those outwith NZ, I jst need Mr Granite to get his in there too......
They had environmental positions the other week, but then they disappeared from the site, so we'll try another tack.
Alternatively we will just have to see whats on the go and try to apply from here with our EOI ongoing. We'd rather get our PR before upping sticks and all, but as you know, its a bit like the 'chicken and egg' theory!
