Hello ,
We were just wondering if anyone has had experience of a PR application interview?
We have received our ITA but as we have no job offer or skills/qualifications in an area of absolute skill shortage, so reading the guide an interview seems possible.
Fills me with trepidation as having worked our finances out and reading so many posts about cost of living/ housing/ wages etc that when they ask "Why do you want to go to NZ?" I am wondering!
Still, was brought up on a diet of "The Good Life" and quite fancy being Tom in my nettle-green jumper with a boiler powered by pigpoo!!!
Any experiences would be appreciated,
Regards Mike

"The Good Life" by Helen and Scott Nearing? You'll find pockets within some communities aligned with the values of the Nearings and comrades installing solar collectors, wind energy, composting toilets, attempting to live off the land, etc who have an awareness of peak oil, global warming, live lightly on the land, maybe even dress in moss-green jumpers...but they are, by far, nowhere near the majority in NZ (as green as many of us thought it was). But because it is such a small country the potential for visionary change that can impact resource consumption is greater than in some other regions of the world where the infrastructures are more complex.
Many of us have experience with the interview where the outcome was approval of PR, and others have gone the WTR route. Did you have questions about the interviews? Or the "Why do you want to move to NZ?" question??
Welcome, anyway! It's been a great list of very helpful, positive folks - hope you enjoy it.

"The Good Life" by Helen and Scott Nearing?
Surely referring to Tom and Barbara Good in the BBC's 70s comedy by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey?
Mike&stef, this might give you a bit of info to start with http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7043&highlight=interview+questions
There are heaps of expereinecs of the interview on here and |I have never read one that is anything ohter than "oh, it was about 15 - 20 mins long and fine, not trying to catch me out!"
Good luck!

Thank you very much for the swift replies, have checked the thread and that was so useful, sets our minds at rest or at least gives us a focus for our thoughts.
I think it was fear of the unknown really and it sounding rather formal in the residence application pack.
Regarding "The Good Life" reference it was indeed the 70's comedy I was referring to. Although we are both really interested in "green" lifestyles I don't think we'll be going as far as that, OH's taste for Cath Kidston will see to that. Financially I think we will be living a very frugal lifestyle if we get there which I am looking forward to in some respects eg. growing own veg, having a few chickens and trying to cut out the consumer credit lifestyle of the UK. I'm hoping that the benefits to our kids lifestyles will definately outweigh the the loss of some material wealth. Just hope I can afford a bottle of wine or maybe will have to start home brewing!:cheers
Thanks again,
Regards Mike
