Hi all,
My wife & I are headed from the US to Wellington, hopefully end of May. We've extended the invitation to family from the States to come visit us next Christmas. The thing is, they are not exactly wealthy, and while we could provide much of the room and board in NZ, the plane ticket is the big show-stopper. There would be up to 13 of them visiting (not counting children under the age of 2, which I think fly free). Has anyone done something similar, and if so, have any advice for getting discounted group rates?

Best,
David

Hi

I used to wrok for BA on reservations a LOOONNGG time ago. Ring up the airlines and ask for group sales. It used to be if there was a party of 10 or more you got a 10% discount.
It may be different now though.

Jo

Hiya David,

Air NZ have a group sales department in New Zealand for parties of 10 and more. They should have something similar from the US :) Kids under 2 (infants) pay 10% of adult fares.

The number from the US is 1800 262 1234, if you ring and ask for a number for group sales in the States someone from reservations should be able to give it to you (I can't remember it on the top of my head :o )

Jen :)
