Hi!
I am very taken with a property for sale in Raumati Beach (Fincham Road). I know there is a new link road planned in that area, and this house backs onto the parkland, so it would probably be affected at some point in the future.

Any feedback on the general area please?

Thanks,
Jane

I would go to the local council and see what the plans are for the new link road, whilst there ask to see the file on the house as well. This will show up any work done on the property since it was built if it's an old house. If it's a newer property a code compliance should be signed off and in there.

Then go from there. Unfortunately can't help you with Raumati Beach, only been up that way a handful of times :D

When you say new link road, you don't mean the "transmission gully" do you?

If so, not sure I would call it a link road, it will likely replace the existing SH1 and take all the traffic going down into Wellington.

Thanks folks.
Ian, what do you mean by "Transmission Gully"?

Jane

Have a look here about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmission_Gully_Motorway

It's to re route State Highway 1, still in discussion after many years as it's a very controversial plan. No decisions yet as to whether it will go ahead or not.

It's not transmission gully - it's the western link road which will link Raumati South with Waikanae - involves more bridges over Waikanae river to remove the current daily bottleneck. That said may never happen and will no doubt take ages; they're currently argueing on where the southern end comes out.

We like Raumati and are looking at a property in Aotea close/road (can't remember)? Our boy goes to one of the kindies down that way. Don't know Fincham road personally.

Raumati's nice, but house prices are inflated there because it's a little bit closer to Wellington than pretty much anywhere on the coast.
We live in Waikanae, and we love it up here.

for info on the WLR (Western Link Road) go here:

Transmission Gully?? I dare bet I'll be retired before that gets done (if it ever does!)

If you want any more info about the coast, feel free to email me
