Hello all,
We are two brits hopefully moving to New Zealand in July/August 2008 (in the process of applying for residency at the mo) and we need to ship our two cats from Montreal, Canada.
Can anyone recommended a shipping company that will ship cats from Canada? I have found several for the UK and even the USA but cannot find any for Canada.
Any advice from anyone who has experience of this would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Justine :)

There are members on this board who have shipped from Canada- I'm sure they'll be along soon to answer your question. :)
Make sure you start your vet work on your cat NOW (if you haven't already)! they need to be microchipped, rabies vaccinated, and (at least 3 weeks after vaccination) a rabies titre test done, and the titre test needs to be taken at least 6 months before the animal's departure.

Hi Liz,
Yes, the cats are getting vaccinated tomorrow, though I hadn't realized (until yesterday) that the 6 months starts from the date of the titre tests (and not from the date you give them the vaccination). As a result, our planned departure date (and the date my OH starts his new job) will now be delayed by a month! But I could never leave them behind like some have done......plus they're only 6 years old!

I notice from your signature Liz, that you are planning to study at Massey university? Congratulations on getting into the vet program!
I was just wondering whether you know anything about the fees for non-kiwis but permanent residents? I'm also planning on taking some courses there and hopefully will have permanent residence by the time I apply. I know that international fees are considerably higher than those for citizens.
Any info. from anyone would be great!

Hi Justine
I am a non-Kiwi and have just started an extramural course with Massey University, when I enrolled they just wanted an endorsed photocopy of my passport and PR and I was charged at the normal rate i.e., international fee they wanted to charge around $1200.00 and I paid around $450.00, so a considerable amount of difference.
Hope this helps.

I'm not quite in the vet program yet. I know for people with PR they get the same rate as kiwis. I unfortunately will be paying the international fees (if I get in). Though, if you're interested specifically in the Vet program, I believe it's free, or close to free for kiwis (and people with PR) so all you would have to do is get in.
