Just had a FAB day on Waiheke Island which has made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside about being a PR of New Zealand. Its the in-laws last full weekend with us before yet more guests arrived so we decided a day trip was in order. The weather forecast played ball and we've had a luuurrrvveely day.
Ferry at 10am from Half Moon Bay, visit to Cable Bay wines (http://www.cablebayvineyards.co.nz) which has just installed an outdoor, kinetic art display (the view is pretty stunning too). Lunch at a lovely place called Vino Vino in Oneroa (http://www.vinovino.co.nz/index.htm), it has a kids menu and made a point of asking if we wanted his meal brought out asap. Then olive oil tasting at Rangihoua (http://www.rangihoua.co.nz/). Finally an hour or so at Palm Beach where son and I went for a dip - the water was fab. Lovely ferry ride back into the City and home in time for son to have a bit of a play before bath and bed absolutely pooped.
All in all a wonderful day that made me feel glad to be alive AND living in NZ. :D

Sounds fab! I know how you feel - I just had my 5 week holiday in NZ. Most of it spent in the Nelson regions and I was so glad to be alive and in NZ. I'm returning to live in December. So looking forward to being home in the country I belong in.
Keep enjoying the place. It seems the country needs some people who are happy to stay (sooo many leaving to live in Australia)

Yup know that feeling very well.......had a fantastic evening at fellow forumites house last night and a very enjoyable walk up the Port Hills to try and wear off the hangover culminating in large sighs and lots of "just look at that view"
Boy do we love it here :raebanana

What a lovely day you had, great to hear what others are up to and about other areas. There are so many fantastic things to do here.
Spent last weekend floating down a local river on big inflatable tubes followed by a day kayaking at Kaiteriteri.
This weekend was more tubing yesterday- a different river this time, followed by an afternoon just spent at the Kite Festival in Nelson - bright blue skies with some most amazing kites (when the wind was strong enough to launch them).
I love it here! We feel we're really living now and just want to make the most of the fantastic things we can do - and so many of them cost nothing - not even a car park fee!
