Hello
I'm 50% excited- well more like 95% excited and 5% in a panic. I have 7 weeks to pack my life up in the UK and get over to Auckland.
Residence visa sorted and I start work on April 1st...gulp!
No place to live yet, no shipping sorted....short term pain ...long term gain eh?
I can't wait to get there!

Hi Crazy,
Congratulations! I too am off to Auckland in a few weeks - fly out at end of Feb to start work on 3rd March! Still got to sell the house, book flights, find somewhere to stay etc - I know the feeling.
If you fancy letting off steam, drop me a mail, or call on Skype. alternatively drop me a mail when you get to Auckland - meet up for a sobering / celebratory drink?
James:cheers

Hello everyone and thanks for the 'Hello's' back.
Some of you have asked how I got my residence visa, job etc and if I'd been before.
I have been to NZ twice this move will be my final visit as it were.
I stayed in Wellington mostly, I have pals in Christchurch too. I did do a little tour around and did go to Auckland. Much bigger obviously but small compared to Manchester and London. I'm not heading for a city life as I have a job in South Auckland. I'm hoping to live somewhere with views of sheep (LOL) I have that here in Derbyshire!
How I got the job....
I had all my qualifications checked NZQA, got teacher registration, approached a recruitment agent (OASIS) Martin Strang the guy who runs it seems very on the ball and proactive. I had tried Education personnel but they were very quiet.
Within a 2 days of providing my CV Martin had 3 interested parties. I had hoped for the BOP area but Art jobs are few and far between so I was told. I wasn't too fussed where I went initially I just wanted to get in and a handle on the NZ education system.
Auckland came up trumps, I was telephoned by the headteacher, we had a chat and I have a job! Start April 1st...(a good omen?)
I'm looking at forums like this to workout the views on areas to live and more importantly where to avoid. I'll be the on my own initially until my partner joins me 4 months later....Billy no mates here!
I expect I'll rent somewhere appealling then buy seeing how the job goes first.
Dead money really with the rent.
Sooooo....alll that said I'm paperworking my butt off and planning to ship the car too. I'll need to book into emigration rehab after all this:confused:
Keep in touch gang
