Hi all :)

We haven't been online for a while - dithered about going but after 6 months of trying to put it out of our minds have happily failed and we're now back to wanting to go for sure :raebanana It'll be a few years away though as we have to get our finances sorted, but in the mean time its possible that Gareth's mum, who is from South Africa, will be going to NZ with her husband, who's brother is a NZ citizen. Sooo....if Gareth mum gets residency and we then want to go over, does anyone know if this makes it easier for us to get residency? Also, if we just go over there on our passports and stay with them, get jobs and then apply for residency, are we likely to find it easier if we are already in the country and have jobs?

Thanks all for your wonderful help - as always :nice1

ask gareths mum to put you guys down on her ITA as family members. i think this has some bearing on how easy it would be to sponsor you at a later date ... i'm not sure if she has to be a permanent resident or a citizen before she can sponsor though ...

as for jobs - one is allowed to look for and accept a job while simply there on holidays (visitors visa) and then PR becomes easier because you are already living and working there

good luck
