I just thought you would all like to know how things are going for us this end, I am still visiting this site on a regular basis for advice and thought it time to chat again.
Its getting scary cause it is just under 9 weeks till we go. Ahhhh!
So back to reality and again my mind is still in a whirl, got the car to sell, I put it on auto trader on line and within half an hour had a call followed by a visit and they have said they want it - coming to collect next Tuesday. The (furniture shipping company) are coming Wednesday to give us the final costing and go over the paperwork which seems daunting in itself. Still not sure what clothing to send in the container and what clothing to pack in suitcases to go with us by plane. Remembering I wont see the container till middle of May. And I really need to get down to some serious packing of the rest of the items we are shipping as they will be collecting everything on the 11 Feb. 3 weeks today. The dog's sorted and goes from us on the 4th March. (All being well with the necessary tests.)
I'm also trying to sort the leaving Party, Venue/group to play etc.
Oh and we have to leave the rental at least a week before our departure so will be living out of suitcases.
Worried about being without my computer and internet.
Would love to meet with forum members once over in NZ I guess our nearest "big" town will be Hamilton or Taupo.
We arrive in Auckland on the 27 March and catch the overlander train to Taumarunui on the 28th March so with any luck I will be able to check emails and this site ummmm maybe by the begining of April. (no laptop)
Thanks again for all your support

Hi Den - I know how you feeling we seem to be in exactly same stage of the move as you - furniture quotes all in and waiting for definate date to get them to collect - house sold - and new owners wnat the house by end of Feb - heavens knows where we will go as we plan to fly out on about 16 March to Hamilton - dont quite know where we will stay til our furniture arrives - our old dog has retired to live with family - that was sad - Im not good at goodbyes so doubt we will have party - will just do a quick stop over with everyone and say our goodbyes. Hope we can all catch up when we there and hopefully laugh about this journet which seems to have taken for ever.

Good luck with you move

It's all coming together now Den. It's a bit like juggling plates but you'll have them all spinning when the times comes, trust me. (OK, one or two may come crashing down but that's expected). Living out of suitcases is a strange experience - we're still doing it three months later- but you'll manage.

The lack of computer is a difficult one but once you're here there's plenty of internet cafes to keep you going until yours gets here. It's all very scary but so worth it.:nice1

I was really worried about being computer-less (sad isn't it!), so we splashed out on a new wireless-enabled laptop before I left the UK. Not only has it been invaluable for forum access (and the support / help / advice of everyone on here), but I've got my important documents stored (scanned passports / contact details) and email access.

We picked mine up in the new year sale at PC World, for around £400 - for us it was definately worth it!

It's all very daunting at this stage, but honestly you'll be fine. :yes You've already got some big things ticked off that list.

Have you got any old clothes you can wear for the last week and then dump them before you fly? Stuff at the back of the wardrobe, that kinda thing (go on be ruthless :laugh)

Bring layers of clothing with you and that way you won't have to pack bulky stuff, not that you'll need them in May really.

What are you planning on doing in Taumarunui? We've been through there several times and property seems extremely reasonable.

Hi Smiler My OH family are into farming/fencing so we will rent a place while we have a house built in a rural village about 15-20 minutes from the town. I'm not sure what I will do although I thought "something" (very part-time) and to do with people as my previous job was with the public, plus it might be a way of making new friends.
