What happens next, do we get an e-mail or do we have to look on our site for info.
Ours says 'selected' - what does it change to (hopefully)
Has anyone's message changed yet?

Hi Mels, I am still waiting too. Having looked through the site it takes time for them to check your EOI. If you have a job offer it does say that this is normally done within 10 days. If they are happy they send out the ITA. I think your status would then change to 'accepted' or 'ITA' sent. Maybe others who have been through it can enlighten us. :yes
Rusty
23rd January 2008, 04:08 AM
Your status will change to 'approved' when they have viewed your EOI. This takes approx 3 months in London - or quicker/prioritised (sp) with a job. Saying that, mine changed in 5 weeks.
So, keep an eye on the official site. When it changes you should expect your ITA in the post within a couple of days - then the fun starts.
Good luck
MaxG
23rd January 2008, 06:10 AM
You don't get an email - just keep logging in and checking!
When the status changes to 'Decision successful' it means the ITA is going to be (or has been) sent out. The ITA is essentially a printout of what you said on your EOI plus a letter from your visa officer. This accompanying letter sets out exactly what you need to send with your completed application (and usefully will include contact details for someone at INZ if it's anything like mine - a direct phone line at normal rates is very useful).
Note that you can make changes to your EOI information on the print out (I removed my brother in NZ as I didn't need the points, and couldn't be bothered with the trouble of getting a copy of his birth certificate, but added in my wife's parent and siblings which I hadn't originally put in as I couldn't remember all their birthdays!).

I read that they aim to complete the EOI checks in 10 days for those that have a job offer. Now I fully expect it to be longer than this BUT........it does mean that some of us COULD be hearing soon if we'll be receiving ITA.
So keep us all posted everyone.
Fingers crossed

Our application was just amazing.
EOI fillled in online 15 Jan08
EOI Selected 17 Jan08
EOI Successful 25 Jan08
ITA Received 28 Jan08... after the weekend.
And this all without any job offer, but 150 points.
The checklist is just confusing. Do I only need to submit the items that are asked there???? E.g. They only ask for origigals or cert. copies of qualifications, but nothing is mentioned about NZQA, although a PAR was done.
Any help regarding this issue?

Hi Mels,
We stay in Cape Town... suppose you will know that is in South Africa.
I was hoping things would move fast, but geeze... this really took me by surprise... some of our required documentation has just today been submitted.
I hope everything happens just as fast when we submit our ITA.

I think OH is leaning towards Rangiora - he seems to have a phobia about floods if you are too near the sea (????). We will wait and see what we think when we arrive. I am happy either way as long as we can find a nice house in a good area. Whether it is Kaiapoi or Rangiora my son would have to go to the same school - just in Rangiora he could get there easier but I would have further to go to work. I just want to be in NZ and take it from there :D

Hi, better do a quick intro as we have been getting bags of info from this forum for the last 2 years since we visited NZ. After 2 years we decided to go for it, sold the house last Oct, husband secured a job offer just in time for us to submit the EOI in the 16th Jan draw. We were selected but are now frantically logging in every 2 minutes to see if it has changed to 'decision successful'. Our surname is 'P' so hopefully soon. Our container left last Friday with all our life's belongings in heading to Wellington, so we just want the ITA so we can follow it!
One question- does the ITA arrive in normal post as we are temporarily living with parents(with our mail being redirected) so we don't want it going astray?
Thanks
Wendy and Lee

Congrats to those with ITAs already. Ours is still saying selected too. Surname begins with G and we have 200 points with a job offer, so who knows what kind of system they're using!! Just toying with us again most likely.
We're getting ready to submit work visa applications instead so we can get out there and ship our stuff.
We've just had a horrid medial scare to add to the excitement. OH went for immigration chest xray and they found enlarged lymph glands. NZ off, all kinds of scary diagnoses and treatments possibly on. For the last week we've been in limbo, but a specialist today is sure it's not cancer or even anything serious and sees no reason why we can't get into NZ.
We're flying out on March 12, barring any other surprises from leftfield.

really sorry for your scare brightonbean, i know i would suspect the worst too and start panicking but great news that the specialist is confident all is ok.
we too are still saying selected and not decision successful. i think that they are obviously doing it in random order and we are all still near the bottom of the pile.
The other possibility is that they are verifying professional registrations and stuff and its just more complicated. I hope they work out that I practice under my maiden name and my EOI is in my married name. I'm sure they've come across it before.(can you tell my mind's been working overtime?)
We'll all just have to keep checking..........I will be devastated when the 30th jan selection start getting decision successful and i'm stuck on selected though.
On the plus side at least it still says selected and not DESELECTED.
Keep checking!!

Perhaps the more information they have to check through the longer it takes. If you are claiming points for work experience, qualifications etc.. it may take longer.

3rd February 2008, 07:01 PM
For anyone still waiting to hear whether their application is moving forward - like us - I spoke to the NZIS on Friday and they said that if you have a job offer you will be prioritised and should hear within 10 working days, although there is apparently a backlog at the moment because of the large number of applications selected due to the Christmas break. (I guess that means that if you don't have a job offer, you can expect it to take even longer at the moment.)
I'm vaguely reassured by that, but never convinced that the person you're talking to actually knows for sure. We've got our medicals this week, so won't - or will try not to - panic about not having the ITA until the results of those are back the week after.

Surely they can't be that far behind. Have called them once but were just told they are extra busy, so not sure how long to leave it before we try to hassle them. Me too still at "selected":-(
As the UK call centre was closed I called the NZIS people in NZ directly. He said I'd been assigned to a case officer - he gave me her name (not sure it helps if I can't contact her) and he emailed her to contact me whilst I was on the phone. His explanation is that the delay is probably because I have so many points to check! If that's true, it's a little ironic...
