I've just been quoted £9000 plus VAT for 40 foot container UK to Wellington.:wah
OK it's door to door including packing and unpacking and insurance but ouch that hurt! :(

Have you had more than quote? That seems rather over the top! We paid about £4k in August for a 40ft to Nelson with White & Co. That did exclude insurance and we unpacked at this end apart from big items of furniture that they reassembled/unpacked for us. Definitely shop around as our quotes varied greatly.

Hi Mels
Yes we have used them, although our ship doesn’t dock untill 16th Feb in Napier. We paid £2190 inc door to door for a 20ft container, although I should point out that we self packed. ALS is a small friendly company so it will be Andy that comes out to quote and he might be packing or loading as well.
ALS Worldwide Tel: 01903 724385 Based in Brighton East Sussex area, Andy McTaggart MD is a nice guy, don’t expect a suited sales man in a flash car. Andys the only person I spoke to at some 20 shipping companies who actually seemed to know what he was talking about, he was also the cheapest.
They normally use NZ van lines the other end and ship with Maersk Line, for us they were the only ones proposing to ship direct to Napier rather than Auckland. I personal found dealing with shippers very stressful as they all attempt to tell you what they think you want to hear, which is normally a load of crap and rarely in my experience based on truth, fact or reality.
So far so good for use, I would defiantly recommend them thus far.
Best wishes :nice1

Build your own - my brother just sent me pictures of the rather large timber supplies to be had along Worthing seafront just now!!

... I've heard Sir Steve Redgrave is making a comeback for the Beijing Olympics, maybe he could do with some extra training and help out with the rowing ;)
Seriously though, that does sound very expressive... have you tried these:

www.excess-baggage.com
www.anglopacific.co.uk
Good luck with your searching :)

Mels, that sounds seriously expensive. I think we were quoted just under
£5k for a 40 ft including VAT. granted that was 12 months ago, but I really think they are trying it on..I'd def get several comparison quotes.. most people go for John Mason, Anglo Pacific, Brittania , Whites to name a few..lots of threads /Polls on peoples experiences with different companies if you do a search..
hope that helps..
