Hi All,
Think of getting OH a motorbike license test for his birthday. he rode a bike 20 years ago but does not hold a current licesne. What we have to do?
Get him a few bike lessons then put in for the test - like with a car?
Anyone know a good one on the North Shore?
Thanks
Nanny

Hi Nanny
If he has a current UK bike license, he would just have to do the theory but if not, he'd be treated as if he was a new NZ rider and have to do it in stages;
Stage 1 - Learner licence (http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/licensing/motorcycle/motorcycle-learner.html)
Stage 2 - Restricted licence (http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/licensing/motorcycle/motorcycle-restricted.html)
Stage 3 - Full licence (http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/licensing/motorcycle/motorcycle-full.html)To jump through all the hoops would cost just over $300, without any lessons. But I'm guessing he wouldn't need many because you never forget how to ride a bike! :)
There's more info here http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/licensing/motorcycle/index.html

PS Can't help with an instructor though, sorry.

and the theory test (scratch off/multiple guess) is really easy too ...
you can even buy 'practice tests' from the AA which are pretty similar (if not the same!) as the actual tests ... ;)

Another link that has plenty of information Factsheet 28: Motorcycle licenses - How to get a Class 6 license (http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/28.html)
