Ok I need help here!!
We have been getting some lovely 'meaty' fish from the chippy, it is really tasty, not watery at all, in fact a bit like chicken.
Today when i picked up our order, i asked the man what sort of fish it was, unfortunately (and I'm not being racist here!!!!!! Just stating a fact!!!) the man is chinese and despite asking twice I couldn't understand what he said, all I manged to get was 'blue ...............'
So any of you knowledgable folk out there know hat we are eating?

Could well be Blue Cod, it's the right sort of area for it. (Well, not Palmy itself, obviously!),

That's the only blue fish I can think of. It's not much like chicken though.

Why did you not say 'pardon?' Blue 'what', repeatedly if need be, even get him to write it down, in Chinese if necessary, then get it translated and save us all the trouble.
If it was Blue Cod, you were blessed, it is TOPS!!!

The chippy was packed, the guy was very busy, and I'd asked twice didn't want to hold him up asking again! But I will be asking him to write it down next time!! :yes
Thanks for all your answers, even been on the links, but nothing sounded like what he said, perhaps I need to clean out my ears! :laugh

Marcia.
Are you trying to tell me that it tasted better than those fish and chips we all ate that day in our conservatory back in the UK?
Surely not ...:laugh

I had some Groper in the chippy, and it was the exact texture of chicken fillet! It was actually very nice, even though not terribly fish-y.

I asked our kiwi mates who go to the same chippy - (in fact she's a fish saleperson, selling to the supermarkets wholesale)
I'd written it down so I could post it - and lost my bit of paper!!!! :exit
So there you are ask for Blue Wharehou - lovely fish! :)
