Hi there,
After having been lurking on these forums for a while gathering info, we finally made it. Arrived in Dunedin nearly 2 weeks ago, now have somewhere to live, something to drive, and just about ready to start work teaching in a week's time.
Had a great day out today up at Wairopi Falls - very remote, but just an hour's drive from here. Wife and children (boys 11 and 9, and girl 7) are all liking it so far, thank goodness, just starting to miss friends back home though.
Ah well, here we are. I'm sure many questions will start to occur now we're finally here. Thanks to all the helpful contributors on these forums who have provided much interesting info already.
cheers,
Simon

Hi Simon
Congratulations to you and your family on the big move! We are still at the pre-EOI stage right now, doing frantic, obsessional research!
I am glad to hear your children are happy, we have three children, so I love to hear how happy other people's are and hope ours will be the same!

Hi lockstock,
sorry for the delayed reply - teaching so busy I'm not getting much chance to check the forums! I'm teaching maths at high school level (in very short supply round here, it seems). Enjoying it too. NZ kids seem so much more pleasant than UK ones.
cheers,
Simon

Hi bartons and pipipudel,
We're up in Maori Hill in a smallish rental house. But we just accepted an offer on our house in Bournemouth, yay! Hoping to stick the money somewhere safe in the UK for a while, and wait for a better exchange rate.
Loving it here so far, but haven't we had a few cold days! Brrrrr!
cheers,
Simon

Good idea mate, I reckon the Kiwi dollar will fall like a rock in the next year as the US economy continues to fail and the carry traders that have been propping up the Kiwi get cold feet - can you believe 40 p to the dollar! Crazy.... As far as chilly days are concerned it does snow in Dunedin in the winter, I hope someone warned you of that.....Lovely place to live from what I have heard though. :cheers

Hi,
Especially good to hear you are enjoing Dunedin, my husband I and little boy are looking to be there by the end of the year. Good to hear the kids are better behaved!
Have you been to the open water pool by the sea yet?
