The annual Canadian v American Clubs softball match is just weeks away, so hope that you are well into your sports training programmes by now and swotting up on the words of the National Anthem. Last year, we (Canadians) won :cheers and we think we might be on to a winning streak. But that’s no reason for complacence….:clap
This is going to be a real ball game, so we are definitely having the national anthems. (The Americans tend to be desperately patriotic at such moments, but they ain’t seen nothin’ yet!):nice1
Then, either the youngest or the oldest person present will throw out the first pitch.
This will be a real family fun day in the best traditions of the Canadian Club. We will be selling hotdogs ($1.00), soft drinks ($.50), beer ($1.50), popcorn ($.50), potato chips ($.50) and peanuts in the shell ($1.00). . The ever reliable Dan Johnston has kindly agreed to bring his BBQ and cook the dogs and we have asked the American Club to bring a second BBQ in case there’s a rush.
We are asking EVERYONE to bring their ballgame memorabilia, such as pennants for the fans to wave, and we urge you to wear your favourite ball cap, etc.
When: Sunday, April 6
What time: Be there by 11:30 for a 12:00 game
Where: Rosedale Park, Albany – Diamond # 2
What if it rains: The game is on unless it’s absolutely
teeming down – in which case, we reschedule
for Sunday, April 13.
And after?: We will get together at the Nu Brew after the
game -- whether it’s to congratulate ourselves
or to commiserate.
