Are children at secondary schools, or primary for that matter, streamed? i.e. put into ability groups for certain subjects eg maths, english and science?
What is the general concensus about co-educational schools versus single sex schools? Which have better reputation on the whole?

Primary - yes.
Children are grouped within a class in ability groups in Literacy and Numeracy.
Other subjects - it depends on the objectives.
Secondary - from my sons' experience - there are a couple of "streamed" classes in his year group - and the rest are grouped together.
I believe co-ed or single sex schools would be a personal preference - I truly doubt it makes much difference academically in the end when you take their results overall.
My personal preference has always been - and will always be - co-ed.
