I've searched the forum for some answers but it's all over the place.

Can anyone recommend a good health insurance plan?
What about dental insurance?

All answers gratefully received

Southern Cross are ok. IIRC, there are three different plans, each with different levels of payouts. Best is if you can get on a company scheme, because then they are forced to accept all pre-existing conditions.

Just posted this in another thread.....we use Sovereign

We pay $128 for medical including specialist and test coverage.

We used Tim at Inform (tim@inform.co.nz) to get coverage. He is a broker and will gather info from you and then look at a bunch of programs and outline the options and chat with you about pros and cons. He also helps with claims etc. on an on-going basis. He has been fantastic! Shoot him an email and I am sure he will be able to address your questions. Good luck

Inform are brilll! I can't recommend them enough. :nice1

We used them recently. Conor was our main contact with Tim stepping in while Conor was away.

The best plan for us was ING Life (they cover non-Pharmac drugs like Herceptin) and we're ancient! It doesn't include Dental, which we felt wasn't worth it after OH worked out all the figures but it does include extra Specialist and Test cover.

I have one condition that they won't ever cover and another more recent problem that they'll cover after a year, providing there have been no recurrences in that time.

Our's cost $620 every 6 months and I paid the fee 6 months up front getting a discount and saving the admin fee.

I've got Southern Cross through work and it's free for me and $5 a week for my partner for the basic care, and all pre-existing conditions are covered, which is great.

Here is a document I got from the broker Tim recommended below in this thread. Thought it was very helpful in comparing policies. Email me if you can't follow the link to the graph.
