I was wondering about the changes which NZIS announced before xmas to speed the PR process for occupations with definite supply shortages, such as Nursing.

It's interesting because, I have a job offer in Auckland, and out of curiousity and encouragement from family in Auckland who do business with surgical supplies, tried to enquire of any other vacancies or the prospect of work more within my speciality.

Was flabbergastered to get the reply that they couldn't even accept my cv to keep on file, as I was already known to a Health Board for whom they recruit.

The lesson (if any)... if NZIS are prepared to offer PR to Nurses without a job offer, really think carefully about who you get in touch with before submitting cv.

As in my instance, have job offer in CBD, we hope to live West Auckland, which is fairly okay, but what if we do a 360 turn and decide East Coast Bays, that would be a lot of travelling at heavy times over the bridge.

Food for thought, my experience may not be the same as others, but fundamentally, to get the job offer to submit EOI was the aim back last June, and maybe some flexibility about getting to NZ, with PR sorted, and then sussing work out and where you are going to live, when you know there are jobs would be the better way to go?
