Hi,
we are getting closer to hopefully getting PR (not quite yet) and have some potential job prospects which may speed up the process fingers crossed.

My question is regarding medical insurance in NZ and if anyone can tell me how much this is likely to cost and also if there are any people that have medical conditions that have stopped them getting insurance or had to pay more.

More specifically, my wife had thyroid cancer and is 2 years clear, has anyone else had serious illnesses and managed to get insurance, if so, what are we likely to be paying??

Thanks in advance for any replies

We pay $128 for medical including specialist and test coverage. That is for me, my partner and 19 mo. daughter. I had some medical issues (back surgery and High cholesterol) that were excluded so I'm not sure how they would treat your wife's cancer.

We used Tim at Inform (tim@inform.co.nz) to get coverage. He is a broker and will gather info from you and then look at a bunch of programs and outline the options and chat with you about pros and cons. He also helps with claims etc. on an on-going basis. He has been fantastic! Shoot him an email and I am sure he will be able to address your questions. Good luck
