Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the on-line version of the EOI that hopefully somebody will have a clue about. Any useful pointers gratefully received.
1/. On the section of the form that asks for a Tax Number and a Social Security number (A12), as far as I know, in the UK we just have our NI number. Can anybody clarify what to put in these two fields?
2/. I'm a little confused by the "Language Skills" section (D1). Which option do you put if you have English as your primary language (that is, I'm English)? I have a degree taken in the UK, so that is an option, but I'm surprised there isn't an option for 'English as a first language'.

HI CJ22,
For tax number I put NI number. On english language I'm sure I put degree in english. I also found that confusing. I'm sure someone will advice you better. Good luck

Same answer as Teri really,
For 1, The general consensus on this forum is to just use your NI number in both places. Certainly that is what we did without any problems.
I believe that you can actually ask for a Tax Number from Inland Revenue if you want but it isn't needed (after all they use the NI number also).
For 2, We just selected the Degree option as its the simplest most obvious choice and again didn't have any problems.

Thanks for the replies guys. My partner doesn't have a recognised qually (we're not claiming for her qualification, as we don't need the points and we'd have to go through NZQA), but is likewise English. What's the best approach when filling in her details on her section?

Did the same as the others, NI in both fields. For the English section, selected 'other' which takes you to another page, then entered something along the lines of...
'born, bred and educated in the UK where English is the primary written/spoken language'
Not sure whether this was the right way of doing it but seemed the most relevant at the time of completing the form!

Agree with Radlad comment, we just entered something along the same lines e.g. born, educated and lived in UK all life.

Okay I did that. I said "completed primary, secondary and tertiary education in English in England". And I know what a vowel is for! j/k.
Thanks guys! All done. Will press the submit button tomorrow when I've had chance to remember anything I've forgotten :)

just browsing through old threads for an answer to a query on EOI re English language - I have selected other and typed in similar as stated above, however, it has not given automatic points for speaking English and this affects our points as a total to the degree that we wouldn't be able to apply. does it add them up at the Final Final end part??
EOI is confussing me :o
