Is it possible to arrange to meet an immigration officer at NZ House in London prior to actually lodging an application i.e. to find out the best route etc?

I know with some countries they are not very accessible at all.

Yes, you can either book an appointment, or just turn up at NZ House. The immigration section is on the 1st floor. Security will let you in an direct you. Take a ticket for the correct queue and wait (one is for existing visas, one for new inquiries IIRC! When I went there mid-week there was only 3 of us there.

Or you could go to one of the NZ Expo's - NZIS is always there.

Sorry to be dumb but what is IIRC? Will be going to the Emigrate show as I think the NZ Expo is April and I would like to go and find work prior to that if possible.

I went to NZIS an the late afternoon - about 1/2 an hour before they closed and spoke to them straight away. I was expecting to see loads of people there. Very friendly and helpful.
It does help I work not that far away.

cheers

Ian
