Hi there

First a quick introduction. I've been using this forum for the past few months - it's a fantastic source of information. My wife, myself and our baby son are planning on emigrating in the next few months, hopefully to Wellington.

We're hoping that getting PR for me should be straightforward as my wife is a Kiwi so we're entering under the Spouse category.

However, although I submitted before Christmas, there has been a delay as we were told to send off for a police check for my wife, which has only just arrived. We've now been told by INZ that the process only starts now this has arrived and could take between 14-16 weeks.

Does anyone know if it tends to take this long or can it happen more quickly? The reason I ask is that our house is just going on the market, and we don't really want it sold before the visa is approved.

Cheers.

Hi Joe and Sasha, and welcome.

I applied for PR under the family stream (partnership) last year.

A week after I submitted my application I got a letter saying it could take up to 8 weeks for a case officer to be assigned, and then 8 - 12 weeks from getting a case officer to getting a decision.

But in fact I got the letter saying my application for PR was approved exactly 4 weeks after the date I submitted my application.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome :)

My timeline is pretty much exactly like Jo Jo's: from submitting to receiving approval in principle it took a month.

Good luck with the application,

Daniela

Note they said "CAN" - it can also be quicker than this, but just depends on their workloads..... patience is unfortunately a virtue when dealing with this process.

Good luck anyway! :nice1

Hi

Our PR was done quite quickly.

Came over in April on work visa and started process for EOI which came back quickly, then PR i think took 2 wks max. Hubbys job was on skilled category though so that may have something to do with it or it was a stroke of luck.

Good luck!

Sharon

Our timeline/situation was very similar to this - but that was at christchurch in 2006.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

Looks like there's a good chance we could get it earlier then.

Now just need to worry about getting the house sold!!

See below for our timeline, basically it took a month and a couple of days between submitting the ITA and actually having the passports back, and that was over the Christmas break!
