What evidencedo I need to supply with my ITA to prove my relationship with my husband? They say a marriage certificate is not enough. I have trawled through the INZ site and their 'policy manual' but can't find it anywhere.
Also what can I use to prove my daughter is dependent on us? She is 18 and at Uni but will be coming with us for hilidays and for good when she finishes her studies. During her holidays she stays with us free of charge, she does have student loans for her fees & accomodation. We do buy her food occasionally and give her cash but have no actual proof of this. What have others used?

From the NZIS residence manual:-
c. Evidence about whether the partnership is genuine and stable* may include but is not limited to, original or certified copies of documents and any other information such as:
i a marriage certificate for the parties;
ii a civil union certificate for the parties;
iii birth certificates of any children of the parties;
iv evidence of communication between the parties;
v photographs of the parties together;
vi documents indicating public recognition of the partnership;
vii evidence of the parties being committed to each other both emotionally and exclusively such as evidence of:
joint decision making and plans together
sharing of parental obligations
sharing of household activities
sharing of companionship/spare time
sharing of leisure and social activities
presentation by the parties to outsiders as a couple.
viii evidence of being financially interdependent such as evidence of
shared income
joint bank accounts operated reasonably frequently over a reasonable time
joint assets
joint liabilities such as loans or credit to purchase real estate, cars, major home appliances
joint utilities accounts (electricity, gas, water, telephone)
mutually agreed financial arrangements.

Also from NZIS residence manual:-
For the purpose of inclusion in an application, and despite the definition in section 2 of the Immigration Act 1987, a child is dependent if he or she is:
a.
i aged 17 to 24, with no child(ren) of his or her own, and
ii single*, and
iii totally or substantially reliant on the principal applicant* and/or the principal applicant's* partner* for financial support, whether living with them or not;
...
When determining whether a child of 17 to 24 years of age is totally or substantially reliant on the principal applicant* and/or the principal applicant's* partner* for financial support, visa and immigration officers must consider the whole application, taking into account all relevant factors including:
whether the child is in paid employment, whether this is full time or part time, and its duration;
whether the child has any other independent means of financial support;
whether the child is living with its parents or another family member, and the extent to which other support is provided;
whether the child is studying, and whether this is full time or part time.
So assuming your daughter meets all these requirements then you just need to provide some evidence of this.
For things that you don't have proof of, would add the details to the covering letter e.g. you can't prove that she doesn't work but you can of course tell them that she is in full time education and doesn't have a job etc.

As we had only been married for 6 months when we applied the evidence was one of our worries, had only been together for 18 months at that point.
We asked our case officer and she wanted 3 very good bits of evidence so
1 Joint bank statements showing our dependancy on each other, go back in time as far as you can
2 Letter from golf club showing that we spend leisure time and socialise together
3 Marriage certificate
Good luck

Is it just me, or does anybody else find this whole bit over the top? If a couple have been married for 10 years, and are still married, why would there be any reason to suppose they are not a genuine couple? I appreciate some relationships might not be genuine, but you'd think the extra evidence would only be necessary if the marriage had lasted less than a certain period.

I know!
We have been married for 10yrs this year and i remember thinking same thing when we submitted our paperwork last year.
All i remember sending was marriage certificate, boys birth certificate and a picture of us 3 together - which didnt even have a date on it!
This seemed to work for us, suppose some Case Officers are more pedantic (sp?)

We'd been married 2 years when we submitted our EOI, we sent the following:
Marriage certificate
Joint mortgage agreement from 2 years previously
Joint bank account statement from 4 years ago
Joint bank account statement from month before EOI submission
Water bill in joint names
Council tax statment in both names
Flight itinerary from foreign holiday last year, showing both names
Car insurance in my wife's name showing me as a named driver
Seemed way OTT to me but I thought better safe than sorry. I meant to include a photo or two from our wedding, and photos of us together at various famous locations around the world, but forgot! It obviously worked though, got our blue stickers last week :)
