Hello,
In the NZIS points test there is a question about work experience. I understood that it should be at least 2 years in the same profession - is that true ?
I mean, I have almost 6 years of experience, but in different positions.
Now I work as an Investments Advisor, and my 2 years mark in this position will occur only in August.
So (to the point...) - If I want to immigrate as a skilled migrant, should I wait until August ? And if I'll immigrate the "Work to residency" way ?
Thanks

I think if you look a little further it talks about relevant experience. If your 6 years' experience applies to the skill you're claiming points for - in whatever capacity - you should be ok.

Hi,
But that's my whole point. If I gained my 6 (actually 8) years of experience in totaly different fields and position, it seems to me that I can't claim points for a certain skill if I don't have at least 2 years in a specific skill.
I, for example, worked 2 years for McDonalds as a shift manager ( Not in any skill ...), 2 years as a sales & service representative (Same here), 1.5 years as a staffing consultant, and nowdays I work as an investments advisor for 1.5 years an counting.
So, this is why I ask again - should I wait until I have 2 yrs of exp. as an Investments Advisor ?
And if I'll work in another profession (most chances are, that as an immigrant , I'll take almost any job offered) ?
I get that if so, my whole experience here my native country is actually meaningless. Is it so ?
Thanks

You only need to claim work experience if it is relevant to the skill you are claiming for. What skill are you using to apply with? I notice all your jobs seem to be in slightly different fields. If you worked in different jobs for different employers but the jobs related to the skills you are entering on then you can claim for the work experience but would need evidence from your previous employers that the work you did relates to your skill. If you don't need the experience to get the points then don't claim for it.
