Hello,
Were looking at houses in the Cashmere High School area. does anybody know anything about Cashmere high? How it compares to the other ones in Chch.

I seem to think I've heard that it's not what it used to be ... I seem to remember reading somethimg along the lines of The expensive suburbs all have great high schools with the exception of cashmere - where many preferr to send their children to private schools .

It used to be pretty good, but its a while since any 1st hand experience .

will do a bit of digging & will see what I come up with .

We were going to send our son there but ended up moving out of the area. It loks nice and the teachers that we met were very helpful. I have one friend who's kids went there and were very happy with it, 2 more friends who weren't happy and took their kids out.
We told the school before the start of term that DS wouldn't be going there and 3 weeks into term one I had a call from the head saying that he hadn't een into school for the last couple of days !!

My relative taught there until last year. She taught pupils with behavioural problems. She said as with many schools standards of behaviour and discipline had deteriorated since she'd come into the profession and was very glad to retire. While not the best of schools in Christchurch, its far from the worst, which seems strange for such a wealthy area (well, Cashmere Hills anyway) but I guess many can afford to send their children to private schools.

My son has gone back into Cashmere high for his second year, He loves it and im very happy with the education he is getting there he has a great bunch of mates and they are all very well behaved as far as i know!

I guess many can afford to send their children to private schools.

I know one couple in Cashmere and they do send their teenage daughter to a private school.
