Hi everyone,

By any chance does anyone know approx shipping and storage costs for us a to ship from the UK. We are just a couple (no kids) and will be taking the sofas, fridge, washing machine and just the general essentials really. If anyone could recommend a good company to use it would be much appreciated. Also does anyone know of a decent storage company we could use too?

Many thanks

hey,

my girlfriend used Anglo Pacific shipping company to ship her stuff from London to NZ. and a friend of hers used the same company as well. she says its quite useful. I reckon they also do tax return, and u get %10 discount for your shipping if u do ur tax return through them. it takes approximately 8 - 12 weeks. she paid £175 for 2 boxes and 2 book boxes. Her friend paid for shipping their household (they're also couple) roughly £1000. You can get more information on their website here: http://www.anglopacific.co.uk/

hope that helps...

We used White &C0. They weren't the cheapest but they had a months' free storage UK side which gave us a bit more time to find rentals, get visas etc. And NZ Van Lines this end were phenomenal.

Thanks a lot for the info. I've just phoned Anglo Pacifics, they said at a rough guess around £3000 - £4000 for our house and my parents combined but hopefully it will be a lot cheaper once they have been out and assessed it.

Thanks a lot

Just remember, these prices are NEGOTIABLE. Get 4 or 5 quotes, choose the best 2 (not necessarily the cheapest) and then get them match the cheaper quotes.

We just signed with Pickfords. They matched the cheapest quote with no hesitation. A bit over £3k door to door for a 20ft container.

Getting our first quotation done in three weeks, once I've recovered from the shock I'll get another couple as you suggest ;)
