Does anyone know if you can get a credit card in NZ that earns points towards air travel? We've really benefited from our United VISA card but wanted to have something with a local NZ airline instead. (I've checked the ANZ Web site but didn't see any credit card type of offer.)

It's not exactly the same but it does have a credit card point scheme through the Bank of New Zealand. Interesting that it ties into your home mortgage.

For anyone else interested, here is what it says:

Bank of New Zealand Points Collection Rates:

* BNZ Credit Cards: 1 point from as little as $50 cumulative spend on linked BNZ Credit Cards (cumulative on total purchases on linked* credit cards)
* BNZ Home Loan:
Average monthly home loan size:
$0 - 49,999 (100 points per annum)
$50,000 - 149,999 (400 points per annum)
$150,000 plus (1,000 points per annum)

Products and Service:

* BNZ Credit Card
Use your linked BNZ Credit Card* to maximise points on all purchases, even when you have to shop at non-Fly Buys outlets, either in New Zealand or overseas.

'Double up' with your BNZ Credit Card
When you make a purchase at a Fly Buys participating company, present your linked BNZ Credit Card* with your Fly Buys card, you'll then collect Fly Buys points from both. For example, if you spend $150 at New World, and you use a BNZ Credit Card (at rate $50 = 1 point), you will collect 6 Fly Buys points from New World and 3 Fly Buys points from BNZ.
