Hi
My question is very similar to mr&mrs exciteds. My husband (floorlayer of 29 years) has no actual qualification but his trade is in the immediate skills shortage list. It says he needs a Level 4 qualification but there are no qualifications in floorlaying. If we put no qualifications on our EOI we would need a job offer (i think) but if we put he has a qualification if takes us to over 100 points. (Im reading the info as experience counts for something, equivalent to etc, Im probably not reading it correctly). He can get lots of glowing references. We are intending on going to the Expo in April. Would it be a good idea to take references with us. Sorry if these questions seem to have obvious answers but everything seems confusing.

When they say experince counts for the equivalent of a qualification they mean they will count experience if you don't have the qualifications. eg. on the EOI there are separate questions for work experience and qualifications, so I would think that you would want to put everything in the work experience section - not the qualifications as this would confuse the form assessors.

as for taking references to the expo, I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a sheet with them listed on it - but as long as the CV you take wirth you has all the relevaant jobs on it i think you would probably not need them at that stage.
