Please can you recommend a hotel in central Auckland, close to all the main attractions, etc.

We're not after anything fancy, something similar to a Travelodge will do the trick... it must have it's own on-site parking facility though, as we plan to use public transport / walk whilst sightseeing.

There's a Formule1 in the CBD, very cheap and cheerful (they have them in the UK too). They're 'no frills', but as cheap as $69 a night. But it looks new and clean. Some of the Formula1s in the UK have shared shower facilities, so it's worth checking (that would put me off). Can't say about parking. Worth checking out anyway. Google "Formule1 Auckland".

I always suggest The Domain. It's run by the Cancer Society, and all profits go to subsidise the accommodation of people getting treatment at the hospital over the road. The rooms are excellent and the parking is in a multi-storey with keycard entry. Book early though, they fill up quickly.

... we don't mind paying around the $100-$150 mark per night. We've searched on the net, but not knowing Auckland whatsoever thought we'd run it by the forum first.

Anymore suggestions plus recommended location will be much appreciated.
