Kia Ora! :nice1

At the tender age of 52 I'm considering making the move to the other hemisphere and starting my life afresh. I'm a software developer by trade specialising in data handling and mobile (cellphone) applications, but for inspiration and fun I'm a freelance photo-journalist, with the accent on "photo".

I feel that despite my points-sapping age I have plenty to offer a country that truly believes in its residents and will pursue my application with all the enthusiasm that I can muster. Next step is the Jobs Expo in London in April. Maybe see you there?

... great attitude and the very best of luck, you're never too old for a change in direction... life is what you make of it and with your enthusiasm you'll do just fine.

Good luck :nice1

Aw, in a mere few lines you encapsulate enthusiasm and vitality. How could we not wish you well with that opener? And just about to enter your prime age wise by the look of it:-)

Go for it Peter - there are many of us who were 'point-sapped' and we're here growing old very disgracefully and loving every minute.

PS Warm weather good for the aching joints!:D

You might take a look at the forums at http://www.geekzone.co.nz

They often have New Zealand job offers on one of the forums.

Leave your rocking chair in Surrey, Peter. I think they may be outlawed in NZ.

I'll be 60 next month, and my wife--much younger than I but still older than you--is 54! I'm a medical x-ray technologist, she a teacher; and the prospect of our grand emigration adventure has made us feel like kids. We're hoping to be apprentice Kiwi's by this coming summer, and we both intend to keep working a dozen or more years.

So what if you only get 10 immigration points for age? When INZ gets smart enough to offer points for rich life experience, self-deprecating detachment, a philosophical approach to life, and general aplomb, middle-agers like us will go to the head of the queue! (But we'll be too wise to gloat!)

Meanwhile, we'll take our 110 or 120 points, thank you very much, and see you on Piha Beach! ;)

Awww, hi, Kayaker. Hope to see you on that beach, too - and we're even older.:)

I wonder if NZ is truly ready for the grey invasion??

Kayaker - good luck to you with your application. I suggest we actually take our rocking chairs and race them along the beach.
