Hello everyone

I seem to recall reading quite some time ago that the New Zealand Teachers Council / NZQA did not recognise QTS? I have a BSc in Science Education with Qualified Teacher Status which satisfies the needs to be a secondary teacher in the UK.

Does anyone out there know if QTS is recognised?

I am no expert, but I thought it depends on what sort of training you did?
PGCE through a university, or SCITT or GTP.

A teacher at my kids school (UK) tried to get employed in NZ, but I don't think NZQA accepted his GTP qualification. I know he said to someone he forked out money to have his quals assessed then was told they were not recognised.

Don't quote me on this though, as it's all third hand info :o and there might be some chinese whispers involved too.
