i am off to hunt around now for answers, but wondered if any of you have come up against this problem.....

My wife and I are looking to come to NZ on a 2 year working visa with the view to decisding if we want to emigrate once we have spent some time there. however, this all hangs on us being ready before my wifes 31st birthday, and if the house doesn't sell in time we may miss this deadline.

Does anybody know if there are concessions for married couples if one partner can apply for a working vias but the other can't? Would my wife only be able to get the tourist visa, or could she stay for longer based on my working visa?

Thanks!

as far as i know you can get your wife to apply for her own working visa but tick the family box on her application form - she can apply as the partner of a working visa holder or a working visa applicant

apply for a dependant visitors visa for any children under 16

Hi!

It all depends if you mean a working holiday visa or a temporary work visa. I'd imagibe you intend to apply for a WHV as this is the only one that has a age limit on it.

We leave on the 5th March and are in a smiliar position actually. I am 25 and therefore applicable for my WHV but my OH is 32 so is therefore too old to apply (plus he's already used his 10 years ago!).

Unfortunatly there is no concession for married couples when applying for WHV.

So we've decided that I will enter on my WHV, and he will enter on a standard tourist visa - at least one of us will be able to work straight away if necessary.

We've sent loads of CV's to potential employers and have been really lucky with the responses we've received so we're pretty sure that we'll be able to change his tourist visa to a temporary work visa once we're over there (we've completed all the medicals and police checks whilst still in the UK). This will enable us to stay in the country for up to 3 years - but we will hopefully be applying for permanent residency late this year.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask - it's nice to be able to offer some advice for a change!!
