Can anyone advise if it is worth completing the EOI before you get a job.
Having a job seems to make your chances far better but the agencies Ive been in contact with seem to want me to go further down the process before they will take me seriously as an applicant...

Depends on how many points you would have without the job offer.

You can always update the EOI if a job offer comes along.

Some companies don't give out any positivity towards an applicant unless that applicant is actually in NZ, whilst others offer positions whilst the applicant is still in their own country.

I think Julie was trying to say that if you have enough points to make it worth submitting an EOI then you may as well go ahead now.

You can use Points Indicator (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator/) to see how many points you are likely to get if you did submit your EOI.

When you are talking to employers / agencies they are going to see you more favourably the further down the process that you are. If you have submitted the EOI then you are much more likely to actually arrive in NZ than someone who hasn't bothered. You are also much closer to actually arriving.

I don't have enought points without a job offer so am selling the house as I believe that will be the hardest thing thing then getting my checks done and going out to NZ to gain work as then I can do interviews etc., and also can arrange a work permit quickly that I can translate into PR as I will then have enough points.

This has been the biggest question for me... when to fill out the EOI in comparison to applying for jobs.

I have two small kids and can't just go and try to get a job, really I need to know i'll have a job when I move. I haven't found ANY company willing to talk to me without actually being over there.

Is it just some industries that are like or do i need to search harder?

I know how you feel. I was lucky enough to get enough points with my husband with out jobs. While I was waiting for the decision I tried looking for work and kept getting standard - no visa no job - replies. Completely different now I have a Visa so if you can get enough points first definitely worth a shot. Kim
