And for all you people who had good service from your NZ-side movers, here's your chance to let everyone know.

Hmmm, NZ van lines were ok, but great would be pushing it. So I won't vote.

Should I change it to "acceptable" or "satisfactory"?
EDIT: Gotta dash so I've changed to "good"....

Got to be honest, very unsure of NZ Vanlines when did search on forum after finding out they would be delivering my boxes, but they were ok in end!
Paperwork recd prompt, then delivery when they said they would too! Only 5 dinnerplates broken.

Ok, I've voted. They were quite good.

Conroys were OK when we used them in their capacity as the NZ agent for our shipment from the UK.
Using Conroys as our shipping agent from NZ to Oz however is another matter. Their packing of our shipment was atrocious, likewise their after sales service.
See other threads.

Going against recent forum experiences, The Moving Company were fantastic, so we used them to move everything fron the rental to our own place. And yes, they were great again!
A couple of years ago, the most maligned on this forum were NZ Vanlines, which was partly why we didn't choose them! What goes around comes around, I guess)

We used Allied Pickfords about 14 years ago. We swore " Never again ". Some of our gear was stolen and broken and we only received compensation after threatening the company with legal action.
Since then we have used " Crown " at least 7 times and have always been more than happy with the company. Absolutely no problems at all.

We used Crown in Wellington to move us around the harbour. Expensive but their guys worked like trojans and they had difficult access in both houses.
Their office staff are slow though, don't answer calls or call back.

Used NZ Vanlines in Nelson - very happy with them. Speedy dealings from arrival in port to delivery and Maf dealings. No exorbitant charges for Maf and they didn't even invoice us for maf fees until about 3 weeks after delivery of our stuff. Thought they'd forgotten! They brought all the stuff Maf didn't want to see to us first so at least we had a lot of our stuff and then brought the rest a few days later following maf inspection. It was all taped with maf official tape and was obvious it had been inspected.

We used The Moving Company in NZ and they were fantastic. Same crew that moved Leachio and we both had a very good experience. They worked very hard on both occasions and put our furniture together (including putting our cushions on the sofa), nothing was lost and the only breakages/damages we had were very minor and probably caused in the UK. So big thumbs up from me. :yes

Yes, you're quite right Gil and I remember that too.
Wonder if this forum has contributed to them pulling their socks up?...
Conroys - are you reading this???

Operations at NZ Van Lines (the actual movers) were great. The office staff were horrid. Didn't return calls, didn't believe me when I said the container was in port (it sat there a week!). Generally didn't do much to help in my book. Also tried to pull a fast one with the "we'll deliver your container except we'll take the boxes MAF want to see back to our warehouse so they can be inspected there and then we'll deliver them later" That seemed a bit strange to me, so I rang up MAF. They said it was definately NOT OK for them to do that and also said they could have someone round at my house on the same afternoon as the delivery. Very interesting. All ok now, things are here and unpacked, finally.

Hmmm, could we then be looking at regional, rather than company, problems?
Perhaps an "I live in XXX and my NZ movers were XXX" poll would be interesting...
