Hi everyone,
I have received my letter of job offer. I'm just confused as to what now? Do I need any other paper work for NZIS regarding this? I am also preparing to return ITA (medicals tomorrow). The job start date is 31st March negotiable. Would I be better applying for WTR visa or send ITA and await their advice? I will be coming with hubby and 3 children.
Sorry, just starting to panic about timeframes
Thanks
Teri

You need a work permit to start work, so apply for one with your job offer. Also, inform your immigration officer that you've got a job offer, see if they can fast track your PR and avoid applying for a work permit.

Hi Teri,
I can't remember exactly how we did it but we had a similar situation in that we'd submitted our EOI without job offer and then OH got an offer which he accepted. We informed our CO, she updated our application and hey presto ITA arrived. However we didn't have too long to get it all processed prior to OH needing to start work and we were waiting for police checks to come back from Australia.
So... OH applied for a Work Visa (or was it a Work Permit, sorry can't remember) which he cross referencing to our EOI/ITA. That was processed really quickly and he went into NZ House in London to have it put in his passport so that he could travel out to start his job.
After approx. 1 month he returned to London to 'collect' me and our son and in the few days he was back in the UK we went into NZ House again to get our Blue Stickers put in all our passports.
So, in a nutshell, if time is a factor you can go down the Work Permit route at the same time as the PR route. Just explain it all to your CO, cross reference all your paperwork and I'm sure he/she can advise.

To clarify... you don't have to go out to NZ on your own and then come back for your family if you go the Work Permit route alongside the PR route. We just did it that way because we wanted our son to finish his first full year at school in the UK but OH needed to start his job in NZ.

Hey teri
Congrats on the job offer :D
I think (my signature shows dates) but it took about 6 weeks for us to get blue stickers in passports. However, my understanding is that you can submit ITA for processing and also apply for work permit at the same time as mgbridges states. I think then your partner and kids would then have to get temporary/student visas and costs for schools etc may be different. Not sure how this works - am sure someone will be along to explain :)
All the best

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. I will send in ITA and apply for work permit. Hopefully all goes well. Does anyone know if letter from employer confirming job offer is enough or is there another form I need?
Thanks again
Teri x
