Hi Steve (we met at Axa today). I promised you a link:

I haven't tried them yet, but the people on another ex-pat forum reckon they are the closest thing to British sausages yet.... and proper bacon too...
He does mail order, so I shall be sampling his wares very soon!
Take care,
Jane

...we recommend Janssen's butchers in Browns Bay on the North Shore. Best sausages we've found so far and our son luuurrves them! We also adore their Kassler chops - delicious!
It appears they do mail order (which I didn't know before I looked them up just now): http://www.janssens.co.nz/
Enjoy!

I haven't found any problems with NZ sausages to be honest. You can get good Boerewors if you look around, and they are the sausage king, surely!

Previously Tanya recommended a butcher in St Albans for sausages. When we went there it was quite busy. it took almost 20 minutes for us to be served. Although I do not like english sausages, people were very impressed.
Still Tanya would be the one to have sayying on that

Up north, here, I have found the Aussie Butcher in Whangarei to make the best sausages in the area. They beat the supermarket ones (and the Mad Butcher, even if he does have a Heart Foundation Tick).
