I know this is a daft question but just how do you keep the ITA together if you do not use folders or plastic poly pockets??

It seems like a disaster just waiting to happen. If they are that fussy about the order of everything why can't we put it in a binder or something?? (can you tell I used to be a teacher that was addicted to poly pockets?? Our secretary reckoned that my kids had to sleep in them at home! )

I know I very rarely write on the board but if we got points for amount of time spent reading everything and taking notes I would be right up there with the rest of you. :P

Thanks for all your help. You have been wonderful!!!!

When we submitted our PR application everything was put in a file. One of those which has 'stuck in' plastic sleeves.

We took the time to put everything in the order that it was needed and even took time to add abit of an index. Makes us sound like annoraks I know but it was easy to follow, nothing fell out and got muddled up or lost an the application went through without a hitch.

The extra minutes spent on it put my mind at rest.

3 months to the exact day we lodged our application for PR under the family/partnership category we got the thumbs up.

Well....on the instructions we got last week....it clearly stated DO NOT use clear plastic folders. I know Diny said she had no problems doing that, so I doubt they would not progress you if you do submit like that, but personally I like to follow the instructions when it is something so important.

Don't remember reading anything on my application form about not using poly pockets and files.

Had an e-mail from my case officer telling me that everything was clearly set out and correct with my application (apart from one very small error which was put right instantly). I'm sure if my file had caused any kind of annoyance they would have told me.

If I remember rightly they have to stamp some of the papers you send in and its an aggrevation for them if they have to take them out of the pockets. If you have sent it in in them they wouldn't send them back its just that they would prefer not to have the paperwork in that type of file.

Moorf.....you had me checking there.....but on the "Tips for Lodging Skilled Migrant Applications" sheet....last bullet point on section 12:

" - Please do not submit your application in a file or plastic sleeves"

Maybe they just added that in recently - not sure?

Neil - is that a standalone sheet or part of the guide to helping you fill out the form.. I can't find ether a section 12 or a Tips sheet - and I have a recent ITA.. 24 Dec... :?

Our suggestion is to fold a piece of A4 in half and slot it around the outside of each bundle of docs. That way you can write a mini index on the front half of the A4 page for what is in each bundle. It means you can do the grouping of things for different types of evidence and it is still a 'temporary' fixing such that they can chuck the bits of paper out easy enough. We use it to submit our swiss tax declarations which also has lots of paper and a 'no plastic folders or bindings' approach.

Good luck!
