We have just completed our EOI and are now wondering if the points we have claimed are in fact correct. My OH is an Electrical Engineer with 10 years experience and has a HNC in Electrical Engineering, does the fact that its a HNC and not a Degree mean we won't get the points for the qualification or the occupation being on the SSL?.

You'll still get points for the qualification. Probably 50. If its not on the list it will still need to be verified by the NZQA and it costs a few quid, you won't need to get it verified before you submit your EOI if you don't want, I waited until I got the ITA.

We submitted the EOI yesterday with 145 points so I guess now its just fingers crossed!, thanks for your advice.

Hi. Unless it's changed in the last few months, I think you'll find that although you get 50 points for the HNC, you won't be entitled to any of the bonus points, as you only get those for a level 7 qualification. This is the problem that I had. Sorry.... can anyone advise differently?
