Hello from Portland, OR USA. My wife and I recently received word that our EOI (expression of interest) was passed on to the London office and will be reviewed shortly. We are hoping to make our move about a year from now,(if all goes well with the immigration paperwork) with our two small children and set up shop somewhere on the South Island. My wife is a nurse, although not in the super employable areas such as med-surg or hospital type positions. She has been working for the county here in Portland and has more experience in a community nursing environment specifically dealing with nursing mothers. I am a fine artist (painting and printmaking) and have been teaching at the university level for the past ten years. Our move is borne out of a desire to slow down the pace of living, give our children a smaller, friendlier place to grow up in and generally soak in the wonders of this beautiful country. We look forward to learning as much as we can from the interchange on the forum and look for any advice regarding jobs (especially), the immigration process and anything else that comes up.
